 AN OPEN AND SHUT CASE? "Two years ago, I helped my daughter to buy a new mobile home. After it was delivered and set up at a local park, I went over to check on it, as she had not moved in yet. As I walked up the steps, I heard someone walking rather heavily in the living room. I opened the door and checked all the rooms, but nothing had been disturbed and I found no one inside although the door to the utility room was wide open. I thought no more of this and just assumed that maybe the workmen had not shut the door properly, although it had been raining and there were no tracks on the carpeting or the light vinyl floor. I did not think anything more about this until I had to stay there with my daughter for several months. It was during the winter and very cold outside. Several times I would wake up during the night, freezing cold, to find either the front door or the back door standing wide open. The storm doors were still closed, there was no draft and the doors were still locked from the inside. I called a locksmith over to see if anything was wrong and he could find nothing but this continued to happen. Initially, I thought this it might be one of the grandchildren or my daughter walking in their sleep, so being a fairly light sleeper, I decided to sleep in the recliner one night to find out what happened. The front door was wide open in the morning and the storm door was still locked from the inside. As far as I knew, no one had walked in their sleep the night before. In addition, one day I was in the living room and the locked door opened right before my eyes, making the cat and dog run and jump on the couch! Occasionally you can feel cold spots when the heat is on and there is an odour of men's cologne, although there are no men in the house. I have never seen a ghost but this is something I can't explain. I never thought a mobile home that had never been lived in could be haunted, but I guess it is possible. I am not afraid of this ghost. I just wish he would find some other way to let us know he is around because the utility bills are high enough." Connie Cook
