 DEATH
Death is the
thirteenth card of the Major Arcana.
This card represents
major changes in your life, a turning point, and
a conclusion to a situation, an inevitable change
that can be most beneficial. However, the changes
indicated may cause anxiety, as it is a time for
making a decision.
Starting a new
job, starting a new school, college or university,
taking evening classes, adopting a new way of
life, starting a diet, moving house, leaving school,
leaving home, marriage and divorce can all be
represented by this card. It is a way of clearing
what has gone before and starting over again.
This card in
a relationship situation can represent that a
relationship is about to end, or a new one is
about to begin. Whatever the situation, the outcome
is inevitable.
In certain cases,
this card frightens people as they feel it means
physical death. It very rarely means death and
it never predicts the Querent's death.
This card of
the Major Arcana was also known as the 'nameless
arcana'. It was believed in ancient times that
to pronounce the word 'Death' was to invoke it's
meaning.
The thirteenth
card of the Major Arcana represents change, an
end to negative situations, transformation and
completion.
